Alan Misses His Friends

Morena tamariki ma, I'm kind of happy and kind of sad today. I'm happy because I'm at school with my friends but I'm a bit sad because the seniors have gone to camp without me. I wanted to go too but even though I tried to pack my bag Mrs Cox said I couldn't go because she didn't think dogs were allowed. Fair enough I guess - I would have loved to go though! I can't wait to hear about all the exciting things that they get to do at camp. I hear it's an awesome week!

Meanwhile I'll be keeping an eye on things here back at Glen Taylor. I heard some gorgeous singing yesterday at our morning assembly - it was beautiful to hear and the volume was incredible considering all the people away. Well done to everyone for stepping up to the challenge. Ka pai!

Alan Meets Constable T

Morena my friends, it's 'Keeping Ourselves Safe' week and yesterday when I was in Room 6 I got to meet Constable T who was talking to the students. I was very impressed by the awesome thinking and conversations that were going on during her lesson. Ka pai!

Remember school is always a safe place especially if you need an adult to confide in.

The other exciting thing going on at school this week is preparation for the senior camp which is happening next week! I wish I was going too but I don't think I'm allowed. I am already looking forward to seeing photos and hearing all about what everyone got up to! I think they will be doing a lot of swimming which I'm envious of. I love to swim as you probably know. I also suspect there will be lots of yummy food - heaven!

Remember this week we are focusing on respect - a great opportunity to earn clicks!

Alan at Assembly

Morena tamariki ma, as you know I wasn't at school for most of last week because Mrs Cox's daughter Jacqueline was home on holiday. I wanted to spend some time with her as usually she lives in Wellington now so I don't get to see her as much as I used to.

Anyway, I was determined to come to assembly on Friday as it was the first week the Alan awards were going to be given out and I was very excited to see which classes would be the first to earn them.

I got to sit up the front and give them out and have my photo taken with the award winners which I loved.

Congratulations to Rooms One and Room Thirteen who tied to share the ready to learn award and to Room 10 who won the attendance award. Tino pai!!

I wonder who will win next week? Remember, it's so important to come to school - unless you're sick of course) and be on time so that when school begins you are ready and waiting to make the most of your day at school.  I get to school everyday at 8:30 so I am ready to learn!  I hope Mrs Cox will let me go to Breakfast Club one day.....

Alan's Holidays

Morena! It's so great that school has started again because it's one of my happy places! I thought you might like to see what I have been doing these holidays  -  I would love to hear what you got up to so please write to me if you would like to share. I will try to write back.

I went to the park a lot and got together with my friends and it was nice to just hang around home, listen to music, read some books with Mrs Cox and get taken for walks.

In the second week we went to the beach for a few days which was lovely as my good friends Jessie and Loma were there. Jessie is very excited as she is going in for her guide dog training very soon - it's a big step and a lot of work for her but totally worth it. I'll keep you up to date with how she goes.
