Alan is Sun Smart

Kia ora! My goodness the weather has been so hot lately...well it is raumati (summer) so I guess it's not surprising. My beautiful black coat means I can get hot quite quickly so I drink lots of water to keep cool and sit in the shade when I feel hot.

It's very important to remember to wear your hats when you are outside this term ( except in the pool and of course not when you are riding on the bike track because you will have your helmet on). I've reminded all the teachers they need to remember their hats as well. They promised they would!

It was a close up of Mrs Cox's knitting!

Alan's Puzzle of the Day - day three

Morena! I'm enjoying coming up with ideas for puzzle of the day so I hope today I get lots of people trying to solve it. Remember there are clicks up for grabs!

Here it is -

I'm looking forward to seeing your answers. Now I'm off for a walk then I'm going to check out some more of your blog posts. I had a look yesterday at Room 13's blogs and I was amazed at some of the cool learning going on. Keep up the good work!

Alan's Puzzle Solutions

Kia ora! I hope you had a go at puzzle of the day today. Here are the answers:

Puzzle One: It;s Alan's new food bowl. It's called a slow feeder and it's designed to make Alan eat his food more slowly. It's surprisingly effective - why do you think that might be?

Puzzle Two:  It's Alan's paw - one of the pads on the bottom of his paw to be precise. Why do you think Alan has pads on the bottom of his paws?

Remember - there will be another puzzle to solve tomorrow!

Alan's Puzzle of the Day - day two

Kia ora tamariki ma. Well no one has guessed correctly about the puzzle of the day from yesterday yet so here's what I'm going to do. Today's puzzle is worth five clicks for the first person who guesses, the second person gets three clicks and the third person gets two clicks. So be sure and have a go today.

Here is today's puzzle - I will post the answers to both puzzles this afternoon.

What could this be? Send in your answer as soon as you can - I have clicks to give away remember!

I hope you are all working hard online and enjoying your sessions with your classmates. Hopefully we'll all be back at school soon!

Alan's Puzzle of the Day - Day One

Morena tamariki ma, well it looks like we're having another few days of online learning. I will miss being at school of course but I quite like being able to curl up on my own bed at home so it has some pluses!

I've decided that while we are all at home I'm going to have Alan's puzzle of the day. I'll post a picture of something in my house and the first person to send me a comment correctly guessing what it is gets five clicks. I'll announce the winner and the correct answer the next day.

You might like to have a go at doing the same thing for your class! Try taking a picture of something in your house from a funny angle or showing just part of it,

I'm looking forward to your answers.

Have fun and work hard. See you soon!

Alan Meets the New Staff at Glen Taylor School

Morena tamariki ma. Gosh it's been so wonderful being back at school! I'm so excited because today I'll be seeing all the students I know from last year plus some new ones too!! Please come and say hello to me if you see me walking around with Mrs Cox - you know I always love to see you and hear about what you've been up to.

Mrs Cox and I came back when the other teachers did so we could hear about all the cool things that will be happening this year. It was so good because we got to meet the new people who have joined the staff at Glen Taylor School.

I met Ms Karl who will be teaching year one and two students in Room 4. Her daughter Kodi was at Glen Taylor School last year. She also has an eastern water dragon called Peanut!

Mrs Dhaliwal is the new year five and six team leader in Room 5. She has two sons and two german shepherd dogs called Maximus and Zeena.

Miss Smith will be teaching years three and four in Room 8. She adores rainbows and she has a dog called Millie.

We have a new caretaker making sure everything works and is ship shape at our school. Mr Pete is extremely enthusiastic about sports and he's been a New Zealand representative in ten pin bowling for 30 years!

Make sure to say hello to all our new staff and make them feel welcome at our wonderful school.

Alan is Back!

Kia ora tamariki ma. I hope you all had enjoyable holidays - but I also hope you are glad to be back at school like me! I had a lovely Christmas day with my family and Mrs. Cox says I received far to many gifts but I don't agree. As you can see I did some exciting activities during the holidays - lots of walks, lots of visits with friends and even trips to the beach - once we even stayed overnight with my friends Loma and Jessie. That was especially good because we could play together all day.

Another great part of the holidays was that Jacqueline came home from university so I got to hang out with her and her friends when they visited (which Mrs. Cox said was practically all the time).

I'm looking forward to hearing all about the things you enjoyed over the holidays so don't forget to drop me a line to say hello.
