Happy Birthday Alan

Morena tamariki ma! What a wonderful day! It's my sixth birthday!! I'm so excited....Mrs Cox bought me a deer antler to chew...I've had one before and they are so delicious! Mrs Cox said I have to wait till after school to have this one...I can hardly wait!! I'm hoping I get some cards and perhaps some of the students at GTS will say "happy birthday" when they see me today. I hope so!

Alan Walked to School Today

Kia ora tamariki ma - guess what I did this morning? I walked to school because it is walk to school day today. Well, to be honest I walked part of the way because our house is too far away to walk the whole way. I sniffed lots of exciting smells on the way and saw some exciting things. I saw some GTS students walking to school - ka pai! I saw a new house being built too. I practised the skills I learnt as a guide dog puppy and remembered not to cross the road unless I was sure no cars were coming.

What did you notice on your way to school today? I'd love to hear about your walk to school, so please don't forget you can comment on my blog.

Alan and Walk to School Day

Kia ora tamariki ma, did you know that tomorrow is 'Walk to School Day' ? I had no idea but then I saw this wonderful poster by Lara and Moe.  After I read it I was determined to join in. Usually Mrs Cox brings me to school in my car but I had a talk with her about it and she's agreed to park the car a few streets away from school and walk. Ka pai. I'm excited because as you know I love to walk. It's fun and keeps me fit and healthy and the less we us cars the better it is for the environment. We need cars (or public transport like trains and buses) for some journeys but we can all think about which journeys can be done by walking - it's good for all of us. Perhaps when I'm walking tomorrow I will see some of you! I hope so!

Alan Loves the Bike Track

Morena tamariki ma. I love the bike track at Glen Taylor School! You might think that'a bit funny because I can't ride a bike ( I'd love to have a go but Mrs Cox said it is not safe for dogs to ride bikes). I wish I could because I can see the children having so much fun at lunch times riding around the track. I've noticed that some children couldn't ride bikes when the track was first opened but now they can. Ka pai! I see everyone puts their helmets on before they start riding which is wonderful because it means if you do fall off (and even the best riders sometime do - even grown ups) your head won't get damaged. Very important because your wonderful brain is inside it.

Another reason I love the bike track is that the students use it to run around and sometimes I get to go too! My Glen Taylor friends like Dontae love to take me and it's so much fun!

Alan Comes to School Once More

Morena tamariki ma - it's so exciting that we are all back at school! I missed you all very much during the last week so I've been marking each day off on my calendar and today is the day!! Remember to say hello if you see me and give me a pat. I ran straight to Ms Wrack's office when I got to school because I know that's where the jar of treats for me lives. She is quite generous with them but she does make me wait quite a long time before I'm allowed to eat them! When you look at the photo can you see where Ms Wrack has put the treats?!

I have heard that there is a lot of art being done this week so don't forget to show it to me when I'm in your room or better still send me a photo or write and tell me what you are doing. I love hearing from you!

Alan is Fascinated!

Morena my friends, well after I'd been for my walk yesterday I spent my time (in between food and naps) checking out student blogs and See Saw. I was incredibly impressed by your work - there are some really interesting tasks I wouldn't mind trying out such as writing an acrostic poem using the word LOCKDOWN and drawing a jar and filling it with positive words that begin with the same letter as your name. I would be using words like adorable, achieve, active, admirable - you get the idea!

One of the blogs I saw that fascinated me was Aaliyah M from Room 11 creating and filming a dance - check it out on her blog - I loved as you can see in the photo.

I love the way you all comment on each other's work so positively. Keep up your beautiful work and commenting. Tino pai GTS students!!

Alan Gives it a Go!

Kia ora everyone! I've been having a look at the work you are all doing especially on your blogs and I'm so impressed at the way you all give new things a go. I quite like to give new activities a try even when I'm a bit unsure about it. The only way to get better at things is to keep trying and practising them. So anyway, Mrs Cox seems to be knitting a lot so I thought I'd give it a go too! It wasn't the easiest activity I've ever tried, especially as my paws made holding needles very tricky! However, I'm sure I can do it so I'm going to keep trying as hard as I can and I'm sure one day soon I'll be knitting myself a lovely scarf to wear in the winter! Mrs Cox tells me she found learning to knit extremely difficult when she began to learn but now she finds it a lot easier.

I'd love to hear about times you have found learning something difficult but kept on trying your best!

Alan Has Another Great Day

Morena tamariki ma. I'm sure I heard some rain last night which made me think I might not get a walk today - luckily today was lovely and sunny so off we went! I adore getting outside for some fresh air and a good frolic. I like to have a sniff all over the park and see who has been there and to run around with any of my friends who happen to be there. Mrs Cox took some of my treats with us today because she said she knew I was missing Ms Wrack giving me treats. Because I was such a good dog and came whenever she called me I got quite a few! Yummy!

We went to our very favourite park - Churchill Park in Glendowie which isn't far from home. I love it there because there are lots of shady places to walk and many hills to run up and down and best of all some water to swim in!

I'd love to here all about what you are doing for exercise and fresh air at the moment. Do write and tell me!

Alan Keeps Busy in Lockdown

Kia ora! Well yesterday was a big day getting organised for lockdown learning and fitting in some exercise in the park plus helping with the housework (by cleaning the peanut butter jar that apparently was finished but still had a tiny bit in it), doing some reading and of course fitting in my foodbreaks!

I hope you are all feeling good - I'm certainly very impressed with the work I've been seeing on your class sites. Mahi pai everyone! You are awesome!! I'm looking forward to looking at more of your work every day.

Alan is Ready for Online Learning!

Ata marie tamariki ma! I had such a great week at school last week. I got to go to swimming twice - with Room 10 and and Room 5 so that was lovely. Some people wanted me to get into the pool but I'm actually not allowed in the school pool (my hair might clog up the filter) and I'm very cautious when I'm around water. I'm a skilled swimmer but I do like to be able to walk into the water rather than jump.

I was extremely impressed with how all the students I watched were worked so hard to improve their swimming skills and making such amazing progress. Ka pai everyone and thank you to the talented instructors from Swimming NZ.

Over the weekend everything changed again and it's back to online learning again this week. I'd rather actually be at school of course but there are still lots of ways it's going to be a good week. I've got my chrome book all ready to go and you'll be able to see a blog from me everyday to see what I'm up to.

I'd love to hear what you are up to so you can comment on my blog telling me how your online learning is going and what else you've been up to.
